| Got bored today, decided to venture out to the fabric store + target, i love shopping...although i did not have any intentions of buying anything today (cuz i'm jobless and broke), i just wanted to take a look..that can be fun too!
First stop...fabric store. It was the first time i stepped into the fabric store actually LOOKING at everything in the store. the other few times I went were with someone else that needed something from there, so i never really had an interest in that store. recently i started reading up sewing/making your own clothes. I've been researching and looking at tutorials for the past week and a half-ish. and i find it quite interesting. There are patterns that you can purchase to make your own clothes!! But the patterns look craaaaaaaaazy confusing!
i took some pictures, but the quality is crap because i used my phone camera, and i had to be discreet about taking pictures so some aren't as clear..
fabrics galore...
i really like the blue polka dotted fabric, could've made a really really cute dress...ahhh!
sewing machines...they were all around $150 :(.
zippers, zippers, and more zippers.
colorful threads section
i ended up buying this pattern for $2.99..teaches you how to make the shirt the model is wearing and a longer sleeved shirt with a tie belt. by the way, does anyone recognize her? she's April from America's Next Top Model!!! I was surprised to see her on there...
the directions to making the tops.... 2 pages front and back!
back of the pattern envelope..has the sizing chart/measurements and tells you how much fabric you need and recommended fabrics to use..
i then hopped on over to target, which was freaking in the plaza right next to the fabric store but since i wasn't familiar with the area i took googled directions with me and it made me circle around the whole neighborhood to get there when i could've just walked to the next plaza! I couldn't see the target from the fabric store either 'cause it was blocked by a huge costco. -_-
it was my first time at that target, and the clothing department was hugeeeeeee compared to my local target!!!
this dress was so cuteeee!!!
a better picture.
so was this blouse...this is from Anna Sui's NYC Gossip Girl inspired line.
this dress was okay. comes in blue and purple too.
onto the makeup department! i was initially looking for sonia kashuk's hidden agenda concealer palette but as ALWAYS none of the targets ever have them in stock!
this caught me eye - i THINK its a new line, never seen it at target before. its called PIXI by Petra Strand..
display eyeshadow quads..to be honest they looked kinda cheap quality. and they were a whopping $28!!! i don't think this line is gonna do that well, but hey who knows.
probably the most interesting find on my journey - sonia kashuk "how to look organically natural" palette for $19.99. and the...
"how to create a smokey eye" palette. weird thing is, when i got home i looked this up online and the colors in their advertised picture and my picture look totally different! i took this with my camera phone but the colors aren't that off from what i saw with my own eyes...here's the advertised picture:
i double checked and the palettes only come in one shade so it can't be that..see the circle eyeshadow in the palette? in the advertised picture, it looks like its just white, but in my picture you can kinda tell that its glittery..its even called "eye shimmer". it looks kinda like the L'oreal H.I.P. metallic duo in Platinum, shown below:
kinda like the left color, just less intense. maybe its my laptop so the colors look different? maybe its target's lighting?! i don't know..but i think it's pretty cool that they come with cards in the back to show you how the look should be done!
so that was my day..not very interesting i know....i really need to get a sewing machine...but a cheap one..that works...ugh. until next timeeeeee.........

| Crap, i forgot i had a xanga.
oh well, not too many people read this anyways
But for those who do, i want to share a site with you:
http://www.looklet.com
This site is probably more of a girls site, but hey, some guys like to play dress up too!
So you're probably wondering, what the hell is this site all about?
looklet.com is a site that gives you the opportunity to dress up models virtually, with plenty of clothing/accessories selections from Topshop and Anna Sui, to Louis Vuitton purses and Armani sunglasses. There's also an added bonus of being able to change the background to fit the mood of your model's outfit! Another fun feature is you can layer pieces together, so you can choose to tuck shirts into high-waisted pants, or wear a tank top over a t-shirt, the possibilities are endless!
Here are some screenshots that i took, CLICK PICTURE TO ENLARGE
:
all models start out with just bra and underwear, you get to dress every part of her! a unique thing about it is each model has different facial expressions you can choose from! Each clothing type has its own category.
selection of models and backgrounds. there's even an "effect" menu to set your picture black/white or different lighting.
Here are some of my work so far:
another feature that i thought was amazing : you can view how the outfit looks from the back!
and a close-up feature!
plus, you get to name your own picture, like i named mine "Midnight Lover" on the top right! It also lists everything that the model has on.
I think this site was released not too long ago, so i'm pretty sure they are still in their beta stages..so i'm hoping that there will be more awesome features/selections once they do more testing on the site..
Anyway I just thought I would share this site with anyone and everyone because it's such a fun and different site. You can practice your own style right at home without having to go to the store and try things on
If any of you decide to make any outfits, please share them with me, i wanna see!
my looklet account is: http://looklet.com/user/51105
Happy dressing! :)

| R.I.P. left back tire & foodings ep. 2 oops! haven't updated in awhile..........BLAME THE SIMS 3! long story short about my tire...a bum felt it would be funny to put a very sharp object in the middle of the road then sit on the side of the road and watch until someone runs it over. Unfortunately, my friend was driving my car and he ran it over. Thought it only needed to be patched..but when we got to the auto place, the dude said the damage was too bad, told me to buy a new tire. Yay. ~$100 down the drain...all because of some bum who decided to spread his misery onto others. Anywho, onto foodings. This time i experimented with a salmon sushi ball. I'm a hardcore sushi fan, ESPECIALLY salmon. People think i'm crazy because i can eat sashimi without any type of sauce and wasabi....i think its damn tasty just by itself.
rice white vinegar-ed rice.
my first time cutting fish...let alone raw fish! it was hard..
...but i think i did a pretty decent job!
the cream cheese
in goes the cream cheese, inside the rice. i used saran wrap to form the rice into a ball + wrap the salmon on top of the rice ball. that way the rice didnt create a mess and stick everywhere.
all rolled up.
on goes the salmon! yayy
finished! i think next time i'm going to try to add something else into the cream cheese mixture...maybe bits of cucumber...or crab meat? herbs? i don't know. for those who want more flavor, use smoked salmon instead of regular salmon. I made about 30 of these and ate them all in one day....<3 salmon. on another note, I just bought...
It smells very sweet, which i'm not a fan of...but then again i didn't expect it to smell NOT sweet..since it is oatmeal and honey...the smell was just kind of overpowering. I haven't tried it yet...but when I do..I'll write my results for anyone who cares to read. I always have flaky skin around my nose and cheeks, we'll see how well this treats it. I hate combo skin! Has anyone tried the new L'oreal infalliable lipstick that comes with chapstick? I know it used to be lip GLOSS instead of stick..well, I bought the lipstick! Will review on next entry. | | |
